Okay folks, no doubt many of you have read ~Lisajen-stock's news article. If not here it is again - [link]. Please consider donating something towards helping. It costs $10USD a day for their mum to be by their father's side in the hospital. Just $10USD!

And here's a link to the latest update [link]. What a fantastic community we are involved in

Isn't it funny how there are always things you want to discuss with or ask others but when it comes to getting the chance you totally forget what it is you want to talk about

Edited to add: Oops, that's right. I've been here a year now :D :cake: Happy Birthday to me :cake:

One thing I did want to touch on was all the theft from DA of late. I've started watching :iconrippedarttaskforce: and have even offered my services to notify DA members of artworks found on other sites.  Why not drop on over and see if there's anything you can do.

Now, I've recently noticed an increase in the amount of members who are just :+fav:'ing other artist's work yet don't have a gallery of their own. Whilst I'll always drop in to their page and say thanks, I just can't help but feel a bit suspicious. I just wonder how many of these accounts are purely storage for people wanting to post the artworks as their own, elsewhere.  Has anyone else noticed these types of accounts or am I just getting paranoid?

Another thing. I'm no prude but when I see photography of men and women's genitalia filling a shot I often ask myself 'What is so artistic about that?' I know art is in the eye of the beholder, but surely these sorts of photo's could be better appreciated on a site that caters for people who enjoy this type of art.  I have to admit that I find very few of these shots artistic. In fact I find them more like amature porn.  Then there are the long list of smutty comments these photo's seem to collect from 14-20 year old boys/men. I mean only recently I read about the Role Play groups getting into strife because they were getting 'sexual' in content. Doesn't that seem a bit silly, considering we seem to happily co-exist with artworks bordering on porn?

Anyway, I'm not trying to pick fights with those to do believe it to be 'Artistic' and in good taste. I just worry about the amount of younger Deviants who are unwillingly subjected to this sort of thing.

Yes, well I'll stop ranting now ;)  Here are the features for August. Go give them some lurve  :D

Isn't it great to see so many people pitching in? Even if it's journals to spread the news..

I agree with the need to get rid of tyhe "Lurkers". People who have an account for 1 yr and have nothing of their own to submit. I don't even comment back to people who don't have anything to post. My exgirlfriend made an account to watch me and I kept telling her to put something in her gallery. After we broke up, she finally started doing it.

Also the porn on DA is getting out of hand. There was once an "easy to understand" rule. No genitalia. Even in the Fetish catagory, they would still cover the genitalia. I threatened to leave DA due to one of the DAdmin featured, on the main page, a mans penis after he ejaculated. Not only is that not art, it was totally vulgar and one of the DAdmin decided to feature it? It's getting worse again. I'm not saying I haven't looked at naked women online. But DA is not the place for it. Porn may be classified as a form of art but not the kind I want to see on DA.

Ick! That sounds pretty disgusting to me. And it was featured by an DAdmin? Yeah, in all honesty porn doesn't bother me. If people want to watch it - good luck to them. HOWEVER, I just don't believe that this is the place for it. Why does everything always have to come back to sex

About the porn...wait a min...I thought that images with mature content are not allowed to be shown to DA members under the age of 18...how do they get to it to comment ?
All the other things you say are also very true and I agree 100%, though the comunity is so huge that I think these things are getting out of control :(

One of my friends pointed out to me that parents are giving kids a sort of gift/visa card with a set amount of $$. He said they might use that to register on DA and make it look like they have parental approval. Now they have a paid account and can view whatever they want. All the parent knows is that their kid has been viewing an art site.

Yep, it all comes to the parents again. Not surprised at all. Parents-slaves to the system (or just don't give a shit)+ kids-unattended = anarchy. It's not only the DA or the Internet...the whole world is becoming that.

From my experience the under 18's are very adapt at getting into things that they shouldn't  I may be mistaken, perhaps under 18's can't view said images but I'm sure there are a hell of a lot of kids out there who do see these things. Just as I'm sure there are a lot of images that aren't marked 'mature content' that slip through the system. When it comes down to it though I just don't know if these types of images should even be on here
